Majesty Franklin was born in 1958. She is a gospel singer and songwriter. She is the oldest of four children.  All of her siblings sing. Majesty had a normal childhood.  All of the Franklin children were allowed to make their own way in life. They made decisions with only minimal help from their parents once they turned 12 years-old. At the age of 12, Majesty decided that she wanted to be a singer.  Her parents back her decision fully.

Majesty began to receive singing lessons.  Majesty's music teacher saw a great deal of potential in Majesty's voice.  Majesty had the talent to become a great singing. With the help of her music teacher, Majesty was accepted into the Youngstown Conservatory.  Majesty's brother, Power Franklin, would later on become a student at the Conservatory as well.

Majesty flourished at the Conservatory.  Majesty's interest was in jazz music. Majesty had her heart set to become a jazz singer. Majesty's musical interest changed when she met Mrs. Henrietta Camden, Miss Sista as she was nicknamed by the students at the conservatory.  Miss Sista was a Christian and she was in charge of the Gospel Choir at the Conservatory. She asked Majesty to sing in the choir.  Majesty agreed to sing. Two months after Majesty began to sing with the choir, she decided that she wanted to be a gospel singer.

Miss Sista began to work with Majesty. After two more months, Majesty accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and began to attend church with Miss Sista.  At the age of 15, Majesty began singing at area musical, concerts, and talent showcases.

Majesty graduated from high school.  She was granted a music scholarship to Cambridge Ecclessiciatical College in her home city.  She graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Sacred Music.  Majesty continued singing at area musical, concerts, and talent showcases. In 1985, Majesty signed with Mo'Sound Gospel Records.  Her first CD in 1986 was produced by Rev. Joshua Cleveland, a teacher at the Youngstown Conservatory and family friend.
